Event 38 designs and manufactures fixed-wing VTOL drones in Richfield, Ohio. Since 2011, we’ve sold over 500 drones to people and organizations all around the globe. Learn more about our history >

Our drones capture geo-tagged data for a range of industries and applications. Event 38 drones can be customized for:

  • High-resolution aerial photogrammetry
  • Thermal and multispectral imagery
  • LiDAR
  • Live video streaming

Every drone integrates seamlessly with our user-friendly Ground Control software, so you’ve got eyes in the sky throughout every mission. We’ve learned a lot in a decade of making drones. Thanks to that experience, we’ve established four central beliefs as a team:

You are our priority.

No one’s opinion is more important to us than yours. We want to talk to you about what you’re doing with your Event 38 drone and how we can help you make it happen. Our drones are shaped by what you need. In other words: If you’re happy, we’re happy.

Drones are for everyone.

We’re on a mission to break down the barriers between drone technology and you. Over the years, we’ve made significant improvements to our drones to make them as accessible as possible. You don’t need any specialty training or a degree to use an Event 38 drone. You don’t need special tools or a long runway for takeoff and landing. Event 38 drones are user-friendly and easy to deploy no matter where you are.

The possibilities are endless.

We are constantly amazed by what our customers are doing with Event 38 drones. Our drones have monitored wildfires in real time, delivered life-saving medications to remote communities, and created detailed maps of huge wilderness areas in a matter of days. There is incredible potential for drone-captured images and data. Every drone we make will help you collect better data, make faster decisions, and achieve your goals. We find that thrilling.

Continuous improvement is the way to go.

All of our drones are made at our headquarters in Richfield, Ohio, and each one is better than the last. Our design, engineering, and software teams are all in the same building where we manufacture our parts and assemble and test our drones. We have total visibility over the entire design and manufacturing process, which means top-notch quality control. Every new drone and every new software system is built on what we’ve learned since the previous release. We’re proud of our history, and we’re excited for what’s to come.

Jeff Taylor, Founder & President of Event 38 Unmanned Systems.

Jeff leads the Event 38 team and is involved in the engineering and design process for every single one of our drones. He regularly teams up with industry partners, universities, and government agencies to research cutting-edge drone applications and technologies. Jeff’s interest in drones started when he was in college. He contributed to the development of autopilot functionality through DIY Drones and tested autopilot concepts as part of his senior project. He earned his degree in aerospace engineering from Case Western Reserve University. Immediately after graduation, Jeff interviewed with Elon Musk himself and landed a job at SpaceX. He designed and tested avionics and electronics for Dragon and Falcon 9. He also worked at 3D Robotics as the director of research and development. Among his projects was 3D Robotics’ first multirotor drone. Jeff is a licensed pilot and flies a Mooney M20J.

Mathew Wright, Principal Engineer.

Mathew joined the Event 38 team when he was still in college. He started as an intern, working on special projects. He has developed custom software functions, designed drones, and consulted on major projects. These days, he handles all the software development for our ground control stations and autopilots. He directs a lot of the high-level considerations for our software to make sure we’re meeting the needs of our customers and the overall drone market. Mathew has a Bachelor of Science in computer science and engineering from the University of Akron.
