Existing E384 and E386 users can upgrade their aircraft to include the Emlid Reach PPK GPS receivers. Integration of the Reach system enables map collection at centimeter level precision without ground control points. See our case study to read more about the system’s real world accuracy tests.
The full system includes:
- Integration of precision timing on the R10C camera
- Emlid Reach GPS receiver, with installation onto an E384/6
- Antenna and ground plane installation on the E384/6
- Image utility to help automate RTKLIB post-processing
PPK GPS systems require a receiver both on the aircraft as well as one in a fixed location on the ground to provide corrections. The Reach RS base station can be used to provide these corrections. Alternatively, most survey-grade GPS receivers can be used for this purpose as long as they can provide a raw RINEX observation file.
PPK geotagging requires precision timing of the camera shutter. The only compatible camera at this time is the SonyR10C. If you already have a R10C purchased from Event 38, you may send it in for free integration with purchase of the PPK upgrade kit.
It is highly recommended to send in your aircraft for the integration of the Reach system. Users with a R10C must send in at least the camera to be modified for precision shutter timing. Contact us for instructions on sending in your aircraft and camera. There are many factors to consider when upgrading to PPK GPS. If you’re unsure of anything, feel free to contact us to discuss your situation.
