To retrieve the data flash logs for tagging from your IRIS+ UAV connect the IRIS via USB to your computer.
Open Mission Planner and go to the Flight data Screen.
On the bottom left, select the “DataFlash Logs” tab and push the “Download DataFlash Log Via Mavlink” button
We will now move to discuss the geotagging of the images.
After the flight connect a MicroUSB from your computer to your Pixhawk. Choose the correct Com Port, and set the baud rate to 115200. Go to the “Terminal” screen on Mission Planner, select the option for PX4 (pixhawk) from the drop down menu and press the green “Connect” button. Now press the “Log Download” button.
Choose the latest log and press “Download These Logs.”
After you have retrieved this log open up the Event38 Image Utility. You can download the utility HERE.
A Window will open. Select Image Utilities then select GeoTag Images
This will bring you to a new window and ask you to select the Image Path and Log File path.
To select the correct image path select the directory or folder containing the photos that you wish to Geo Tag.
Select the .log or .bin file you have just downloaded.
Click on the process button.
After the pictures have finished processing you will be given a notification saying “Processing Complete”.
Click okay and then navigate to the Folder containing the pictures that had been selected for GeoTagging. There will be a Text document called ImageLog.txt.
The document will contain the image name, longitude, latitude and altitude for each processed picture.
The coordinates will also be written to the pictures.
