E386 – Auto Land

The E386 supports fully autonomous flight. In this section we will be talking about the Auto Landing feature.

There are two ways to set up an autonomous landing.

The first is with the setup landing strip option on mission planner.

Head over to the flight plan screen of mission planner and click on the Setup Landing button. This will then prompt you to select the beginning point of your runway and the end point.

To set up your landing strip click on the screen to select the decent point and then the landing point.

The second option for selecting your landing point requires you to be connected to the E386. This method uses the gps in your plane to set the landing point at it’s current location.

 

Turn on your E386 connect and set up your mission. For more information on setting up a mission head over to the “Planning a Mapping Mission” section of our knowledge base.
After setting up your mission click on the set gps landing point button on the actions tab of mission planner.

This will bring up a prompt giving you time to move the plane to the location you would like it to land in. When you have the E386 in your desired landing location press okay and Mission Planner will set up the runway based on the current location of your plane.

When reducing altitude, always avoid flying too closely to obstacles. Consider the landing procedure below.

When developing a landing procedure.

1. Decide landing path based on wind.
2. Estimate the obstacle heights.
To upload the WPs to the E386, connect to Mission Planner and left click the Write WP button. After the WP have been written, press the Read WP button. The Read WP button will clear the WP on your Flight Data screen and add the WP that are stored on the E386. Read WP allows confirmation that the WPs on the E386 are correct.
